Join us in our efforts to create a STEAMPOWERED pavilion at next year's USA Science and Engineering Festival!
We are SEAD, the Network for Science, Engineering, Arts and Design!
We are a growing web of organizations and talented individuals dedicated to the pursuit of creative endeavours across a wide range of diverse domains. We have observed that the innovations emerging from the intersection of the sciences, engineering, arts, and design are transforming our economy, culture, and learning contexts. And we believe collaborations between art and science contribute to the development of new, sustainable economies and harmonious, cooperating societies.
STEAMPOWERED education!
We advocate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), a motion to incorporate the Arts into the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) initiative as a means for encouraging learning through the lifetime. Great things happen when the arts and sciences come together, and we want our future scientists, technologists, artists, engineers, and mathematicians to enjoy the fruits that come of interdisciplinary creativity!
STEAMPOWERED Spectacle!
Now is our chance to showcase STEAM inspired projects! SEAD has been invited by the organizers of the USA Science and Engineering Festival to take part in the largest festival of its kind in the nation. The event is purely nonprofit and open free of charge to everyone from students and their families to teaching professionals and government agencies. With an audience of over 250,000 attendees, this is a great opportunity for us to showcase just what happens when the realms of art and science come together!
The festival will be held this coming April 25-27, 2014 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC. That's not too far from now. We need to get this STEAMPOWERED show on the road!
Our goal is to stir up a multitude of backers wishing to support our venture with enough pledges to total $30,000. This will secure us 25 booths at the expo. Amidst the larger cacophony of the festival, that's a vast expanse of STEAM friendly exhibitions, performance arenas, and dedicated contributor stations!
STEAMPOWERED Extravaganza!
It is our destiny to host a STEAMPOWERED pavilion! We look forward to hosting artists and scientists from all over the nation who will demonstrate the impacts of STEAM powered work, from thinkering and making, to CG film, scientific visualization, hands-on learning experiences, and emerging technologies incorporating music, gaming, social media, citizen artscience, and more. Needless to say, our presence will be felt!
